How might you encourage someone who is confused about the idea of worship, corporate or personal?

I might suggest they find as many entries about God's diety and "bigness" in the Bible that they can. For instance in Gensis 3:14 God declares to Moses that, "I am Who I Am." There are many other times in the Bible that mankind has discovered the breadth of God. Make a list of them and start reading some or all of them each day. This has helped me get a real grip on His enormity and covering over me, which in turn humbles me to worship.

"I Am," was an aha moment for me. My worhisp and adoration for God grew immensly when the full impact of that name became real to me. I mean, who else could pull off calling himself I Am? Worshipping the One who is soooo great and mighty became part my nature at that point. I cannot imagine life without worshipping the Holy of Holies, Almighty God, the Great I Am : )

Neither can I imagine how anyone goes through life without knowing God the Father, the Holy One of Israel, and the Holy Spirit of Truth.

This is from The Resolutions of Jonathan Edwards, 1722 - 1723.

65. Resolved, very much to exercise myself in this all my life long, viz. with the greatest openness I am capable of, to declare my ways to God, and lay open my soul to him: all my sins, temptations, difficulties, sorrows, fears, hopes, desires, and every thing, and every circumstance; according to Dr. Manton's 27th Sermon on Psalm 119. July 26, and Aug. 10, 1723.

Hi Kristine - Thanks for the post. This is my first experience with writings of old other than the Bible... Reading these, I feel even more connected to believers of generations past : )
